Mrs. Byrd launched her career in education in 1990 as an Admissions Specialist and Instructor for a private college in North Carolina. In 1993, she accepted a position with Gaston College as an Adult High School and GED Instructor. In 1995, while instructing at a local manufacturing company, Firestone Fibers and Textiles, Mrs. Byrd was asked to join their human resources department as an Employee Relations Manager and New Hire Training Manager. In 1998, realizing her passion for the education setting, Mrs. Byrd returned to Gaston College. In 2002, she moved into the curriculum role as an instructor in Office Administration and in 2007 was appointed as the Associate Dean for the Business and Information Technology Division. Upon the retirement of the Dean for the division, Mrs. Byrd was hired as the Dean for Business and Information Technology in January of 2012. In 2016, Mrs. Byrd moved to Greenville, SC and accepted the role as Dean for the Business and Technology Division. Currently she serves as the Chair-Elect for the Accreditation Governance Board and as an Associate Degree Commissioner for the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. Mrs. Byrd is married with two sons and enjoys college football, boating, and scuba diving.
