How to Get Students to Think Like Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg and Jay-Z and Develop an Entrepreneurial Mindset for Life
Participants will learn how Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) launched its successful Center for Business Innovation with just $2,000 and grew within 3 years working with a budget of $190,000 annually by focusing first on developing the entrepreneurial mindset in the classroom. The presentation will highlight 4 key components of the Center for Business Innovation as part of a unique partnership with local businesses and foundations. In this innovative, yet proven model, local business owners volunteer to serve as mentors and coaches to help students launch and grow their own businesses. Students also serve as advisors to local businesses. This goes beyond the traditional internship programs. Students earn credits while applying the entrepreneurial thinking they are learning in the classroom to help new businesses in the community to succeed. Students collaborate and solve real business problems and local businesses benefit from the added value provided by students.
