Students from the Innovation and Entrepreneurship class, mentored primarily by business faculty, collaborated with Engineering and Applied Media, to produce a bid for the ACBSP Pitch in Paris, where the object was to propose an innovative business idea to a team of judges/venture capitalists. FC Geo-Cool, in its aim for clean and sustainable energy, is developing a ground source heat pump-based, mechanical piping system to convert the fluid from hot to cold, depending on the environmental conditions and underground temperature. The system can also provide heat and hot water as a by product via a thermoelectric process. Viability during the extreme summer heat is provided by the nocturnal cooling radiator. Two venture capitalists showed strong interest in the project and offered valuable insight on how to improve the bid. FC Geo-Cool was ultimately successful attracting a UAE Federal Grant and substantial industry collaboration.
