Being an Entrepreneur in Your Own Career

You teach entrepreneurship to your students, you have practiced it in your businesses can you be the entrepreneur of your own career? In any career it is important to be appropriately entrepreneurial about the opportunities that come your way. This session is designed to help you assess your career and prepare you to take a more entrepreneurial approach to achieving your career goals. Starting with the big picture, this session will discuss ways to think about the arc you would like your career to follow. Then, we will consider how to realistically assess your goals and your preparedness to achieve them. Our discussion will turn to a consideration of the job search, and ways that you can strategically prepare yourself for a successful approach to the job market. We will conclude with an in-depth look at the search process from the perspective of a candidate, a committee member, and a hiring manager.
