A Systematic and Interdisciplinary Approach to the Messy Reality of Ethical Decision Making

Dealing with the complex reality of ethical decision making in business practice requires a better method than a simple code of ethics which are common in most organizations and associations. Using an interdisciplinary approach to resolve ethical dilemmas, the Potter’s Box provides a framework by which students can navigate the often conflicting values or responsibilities professionals must deal with in these decisions. This presentation identifies how the Potter’s Box can be applied in accounting courses by incorporating professional ethical standards along with common ethical systems.
